MACARON, a dual aesthetics.
Design Laura Silvestrini.
The new armchair combines aesthetic and technological research, confirming Piaval know-how in solid wood processing, a material that the company has been shaping for a century. The Macaron collection features all the characteristics of each product developed for the contract sector: the solidity of the structure, the comfort of the backrest, the pleasure of being seated on a soft seat, the versatility of a refined and contemporary aesthetic that determines the freedom of use in any environment.
The collection is versatile and can meet different needs. It includes three models: an elegant, yet comfortable armchair, a 2-seat sofa and a large and welcoming lounge version, presented at Salone del Mobile 2019.
The model is a two-volumes project, distinct but perfectly calibrated. By joining together, they give life to the refined design of lines that make up its unique profile. The first is the shell – padded, intimate and enveloping – supported at the base by a curved wooden profile that characterizes the aesthetics of the entire seat and traces a sign that ends in the front legs. The second is composed of the seat, in the center of which the rear legs are inserted: its structure is a perfect circle on which rests a soft cushion, round itself. The precise overlapping of these two layers recalls the image of the French pastry that gives the name to the chair.
Every model of the collection is characterized by details that distinguish the Made in Italy craftsmanship of the brand and the path of research by which the company investigates the aesthetics and technical potentiality of wood, until reaching new goals, made possible by a deep knowledge of the material that is added to innovative processes of industrialization.
“I conceived Macaron as a project capable of generating a dual aesthetics, made of simple lines but with great attention to structural detail – says the designer – thus highlighting the quality and precision of wood-working. By structuring the armchair into two distinct elements that allow packaging to be rationalized and shipping optimized, I also wanted to emphasize the sensitivity and attention that Piaval has always paid to the theme of sustainability.”
Like all Piaval products, the structure of Macaron, available in beech wood or American walnut, can be customized in a wide range of finishes and the choice of upholstery ranges from fabric to leather.
